Greetings my lovelies! HI! It's Emmy! Welcome back to another MRE tasting!
Today I'll be tasting...another MRE.
And this time it's beef stew.
And as you can tell by the lovely scenery behind me,
that this MRE will be an actual "out in the field" tasting.
So all I've got with me is a knife, some water, and my good ol' handy-dandy MRE.
And if you like these miltary-ration tastings
I shall put the playlist down below
where you can find more of my other samplings.
Also if you like these kinds of videos, be sure to subscribe for more eatin'!
Alright! Let's go ahead and get started!
Alright, let's see what's inside this one!
*Brrrrriiiiiiiinnnnngggg*
Wheat snack bread...
We have...
our flameless ration heater;
a hot drink bag;
some peanut butter;
Oooh! Chocolate hazlenut cocoa beverage! Nice!
Aaaannnndd...
some apple jelly. Ooh! That's a new one!
And.... it looks like an apple turnover.
This is apple themed, I see.
And this is our hand-dandy spoon.
And this is the main ration,
which is the beef stew.
So let's go ahead and get that started first.
There's our heater.
And we're just going to add a little bit of water --
just to that line, right there.
Let's get our meal in there.
Put our flap down. Give it a good shake.
There we go!
And we'll put that aside and let it cook!
Alright! So while our entrée is cooking, let's eat something else.
Let's go ahead and taste our bread.
Oh! And it looks like the typical bread.
Pretty dense and thick.
Nice little shape to it.
Let's have some with apple jelly and peanut butter.
So here's the apple jelly --
nice little tan color to it.
And we'll have a little bit of peanut butter on top.
Smear that together as best I can...
Here we go! Itadakimasu!
Hmm...
Wow!
So...the peanut butter and the jelly are pretty good:
they taste like apple jelly and peanut butter --
a nice creamy texture to the peanut butter.
The bread is the same kind of bread from before:
it's quite dry and very, very dense.
And makes it a lot for your mouth to kind of work through
because it is so dry and dense.
And this, I'm sure, fills your belly, so in the end it's probably doing its job.
So let's go ahead and make our chocolate drink...
This is chocolate hazlenut cocoa beverage powder.
*Sniff* It smells like hot chocolate.
Smells good.
Add my water to that.
Give that a good shake!
Here we go! Cheers!
Mmm...
*Laughs* Not very good.
Eh, it's not entirely bad either.
It tastes a little bit like chocolate milk, but it has that hazelnut flavor to it.
And it's a little bit gritty, so I think I could have shaken this a bit more.
And this definitely would taste a million times better, I'm sure, if this was hot.
Alright! So let's check on our entrée!
Pop it out.
Ah! It's great! It's freezing out here so this feels really, really good!
Ooh! It smells great!
Here is the beef stew!
And it looks pretty good. Look at the size of those meat pieces.
Very generous. There's some potatoes, peas, carrots.
Let's get a bite with everything.
And ya know...that's not bad.
It tastes very similar to some of the tin stews that you could find --
like Dinty Moore beef stew.
It doesn't quite have that canned flavor, but it does have that kind of canteen-cooked flavor to it.
Not bad. Definitely well cooked. The potatoes are tender --
as is the meat.
And there's a little tomato in the sauce.
And lots and lots of gravy.
I would say that's pretty, pretty good.
Yeah, you just need some mashed potatoes.
Dessert is an apple turnover.
And let's get that an open.
Whoa!
Do not eat the...ageless...food preserver.
And that is our turnover!
I have never seen an apple turnover that looked like that before.
Let's see!
Okay so inside...there are the apples!
And I'm not sure what these little brown specs are -- maybe that's the cinnamon...
*Sniffs* Smells pretty good!
All right, let's give that a taste.
Hmm!
It has a little bit of a sticky texture. Inside it tastes like apple pie.
It's sweet. And you've got cooked apples and it has a little bit of a crunch to it.
And the outside pastry tastes a little bit like pound cake.
It's a little bit sticky; a little bit like pie dough;
and filled with cinnamon-y flavor.
And, generally speaking, it's tastes kind of like those store-bought Danishes you can buy.
But this too, I think, would be infinitely better if it was warmed up.
Mm-hmm...
All right. In the sundries bag I have some Tabasco;
I have a beverage base powder;
salt; gum --
looks like the cinnamon gum --
a moist towelette;
and some toilet paper.
Let's add the beverage base powder to my water and see what that's like.
Smells like Kool-aid.
I'm gonna add it to my canteen of water.
Give that a good shake...
Whoa!
Don't know if you can see that. It's a nice Kool-aid red color.
And it smells like artificial raspberry.
Here we go!
*Laughs* I think I need more water!
Ugh! That was terrible!
I definitely need more water! That was super, super concentrated and tastes like fake raspberry!
It does taste like it has a little bit of artifical sweetner in there as well.
Not really my favorite.
Okay! Let's finish with the gum!
And since it's wrapped in red, I think it's going to be the cinnamon flavor!
This is the third MRE I've done that's had the cinnamon flavor one? I haven't had the mint one in a while.
All right! There it is!
Here we go!
Yup!
Cinnamon gum.
Crunchy outside. Cold and rubbery on the inside.
But freshens your breath, right?
All right! So that wraps up my little outdoor adventure MRE tasting!
I hope you guys enjoyed that. I hope you guys learned something.
Let me know in the comments below if there are some MRE flavors that you'd like me to try,
so I can try to find them myself.
And yeah! Don't forget to like, follow, and subscribe,
and I shall see you in my next video!
Todaloo! Take care!
Byyye!
And this is another little Umaike kind of candy.
It looks like it might be the corn potage...
*Deep voice* BIG ROCK!
*Thunk!*
